Overview

We have partnered with the all-new clean soda Höpt to present a selection of the coolest, cleanest events in New Zealand.

In an event that goes against all those stranger danger warnings that were drummed into our younger selves, The Bridge Gallery Studio presents its latest interactive gallery ‘Don’t Talk to Strangers’. The aim of the game is to unite strangers from the corners of the city, but rather than forcing meetings and interviews between individuals, strangers will meet each other through objects.

The event is free, although there is a catch. Each attendee is asked to bring along an object of some significance, whether it be a painting, an ornament or a book, and they are then asked to leave this object in the gallery. This isn't a donation, but rather more of an exchange. Attendees can then choose an existing object from the gallery to take home with them, in a sort of trade-like marketplace. Participants are also given the opportunity to write a small note to accompany their object, sharing its past, or its significance for its former owner. It’s all very sentimental.

Although the gallery is alternative in its approach to art, the photographic works of up and coming photographer Fraser Chatham will also be on show, exhibited throughout the event, to add a more traditional artistic element to the event. Two of Chatham’s latest series will be for sale, including ‘Still Life’ a set of drop shot photography, and CBD Paradise which captures the theme of urban romanticism.
