Overview

Sitting in the heart of downtown Auckland, Britomart Country Club, or BCC, brings something a little bit different to the smorgasbord of bars in the Britomart precinct.

At first glance Britomart Country Club seems like a typical, though slightly upmarket, garden bar, but upon closer inspection there are a few hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

Nestled in amongst the strategically placed greenery and padded bench seating you'll find a cocktail bar housed within a shipping container, a mini golf green and even a pétanque area. Of course the last two give credence to the country club name, but they also give punters a unique social experience that is worth a try if you feel like honing your skills.

Britomart Country Club really does cater for everyone, whether you're after a light meal and a couple of wines, a few drinks after work, a cheeky cocktail to ease your way into a big night, or a lazy pitcher of Sangria on a Sunday afternoon. It's also not a bad spot for a date if it's not too busy.

As well as the welcome addition of US-style burger joint Better Burger into the courtyard, BCC now offers a distinctly Kiwi-inspired menu. Separated into four sections — Small Feeds, Big Feeds, Group Feeds and Puddings And Stuff Like That — you'll find everything from re-imagined versions of favourites like ham and cheese toasties, corn fritters, bacon and egg pie, pavlova, carrot cake and the suitably titled Fush n Chups.

Add to that some cool gigs, and a Tuesday night table tennis tournament and you've got plenty of reasons to pop your head in the door and stay for a while.
