Overview

One of our most colourful and controversial streets is the focus of  a new genre-bending show by Okareka Dance Company. Six performers combine dance, theatre, music and waita in K’Rd Strip: A Place to Stand, which is playing as part of The New Zealand Matariki season.

It is the dance company’s response to the iconic Auckland street and the result is a work that is unlike anything Okareka have created before -  pole dancing, drag queens, haka, contemporary dance and dramatic scenes entwined with an all New Zealand music score.
