Overview

The rapper who popularised the word ‘crunk’ and whose style is often referred to as ‘yelling’, will play one show at Auckland's Powerstation.

Yes, we’re talking about none other than Lil Jon. The Atlanta-based rapper, record producer and entrepreneur first came to light in 1997 with his group the East Side Boyz. He has since released several albums with entertaining titles like Crunk RockGet CrunkWe Still Crunk!!Kings of Crunk and Crunk Juice, though is probably best known for his likeness to a Muppet and catch phrases like “yeeeahh”, "whaaat" and “okaaay”. He also did surprisingly well on two seasons of Celebrity Apprentice and has even dabbled in metal, collaborating with Rick Rubin and Korn.

His most his recent pairing with DJ Snake on 'Turn Down For What' has garnered more than 96 million views on YouTube.
