Overview

Tired of the same old mundane plays with plotlines centered around mid life crises and teenage angst? Because old people have dramatic lives too, dammit, Hawkins Theatre are presenting The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window & Disappeared for a new story about being old.

Based on the 2009 bestselling novel of the same name, The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window & Disappeared follows the adventures of one Allan Karlsson (as played by Robert Gustafsson) as he decides to escape from an old folks’ home on his 100th birthday.

The Swedish comedy is centered on the life and times of Karlsson, a dynamite expert, and the unlikely events that follow his spritely escape from the party-he-never-wanted-anyway. The Mayor is going to be there. The press is going to be there. But, as it turns out, Allan is not… As we follow his getaway, we get a glimpse into Allan's past and discover that this centenarian has unwittingly played a part in some of mankind's most historical moments.

The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed Out Of The Window & Disappeared is playing at Papakura’s Hawkins Theatre from September 11 – 25 2014. For ticket information head to www.hawkinstheatre.co.nz
