Overview

This post is sponsored by our partner, Jameson.

Daimon Schwalger (better known as The Nomad) deliberately wrote and recorded his seventh album in seclusion on the South Island’s West Coast. He describes the eight-week stint as “an outbreak of cathartic creativity”.

The aptly titled, 7, builds on The Nomad's style of bass heavy electronica – expanding his pallet to encompass dub, dubstep, trap, grime as well as drum n' bass. It also features a stellar cast of vocalists over the tracks, including the likes of King Kapisi, London’s MC Lotek, Caroline Agostini and Christina Roberts, Jamaica’s Dexta Malawi MCing and Upper Hutt resident Israel Starr.

The Nomad will play shows around the country to celebrate the release. Each show will feature Schwalger on beats, bleeps and echoes, Andy Qroniq on sax, Warp TV on live visuals, and MC Lotek on the mic.
