Taste of Auckland

Literally a taste of the best of everything this city has to offer.

Overview

Auckland’s favourite food festival is back for another year, but this time it is shaking things up a little. The gig has outgrown its old home at Victoria Park, and is instead settling into a larger location at Western Springs, so we can expect more crowds, bigger names, and better food. This year there are ten of Auckland's favourite chefs on the menu, along with countless exhibitions and samplings to pack the whole stadium for four full days of foodie paradise.

Over from Waiheke are three of the Island's best eateries, including The Oyster Inn, Cable Bay and Poderi Crisci. The Oyster Inn and Cable Bay are making their Taste debuts, but are coming bearing their most loved signature dishes ready to woo those Aucklanders who have never quite made it across the channel. Poderi Crisci is Waiheke's favourite Italian restaurant, and promises only to bring the best of Italy for us to sample.

And they'd better bring the goods, because this year, for the first time, they've got an Italian rival by the name of Farina. The new kid is already a favourite on Ponsonby Road, and they have a pretty loyal following thanks to their revolutionary yum ciao menu that serves Italian lunch in traditional Chinese yum cha style. Depot, Harbourside, Lava, The Commons and Bracu are all jumping on the Taste of Auckland bandwagon too, to boast their fare to festival-goers, who will be treated to the best from Auckland's best.

Alongside the restaurant showcase come a string of masterclasses, exhibitions and chef's kitchens. Fisher and Paykel's Chef's Kitchen will see the city's top chefs demonstrate their skills and share a few of their kitchen secrets with the crowds. Hear from head chefs of The Grove, The Tasting Shed and Masu as they talk their way through a few of their favourite recipes, imparting valuable knowledge as they go.

The four day food fest is jam-packed with activities and tastings, so if you're a foodie or a wino or someone who genuinely enjoys good company and a great vibe, then Taste of Auckland always delivers an unforgettable experience.
