    Whizz Bang Pop

When: Monday, 3 September - Monday, 1 April
Where: Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tamaki, Cnr Wellesley and Lorne Street, Auckland
    How much: FREE

A feast for the senses; Auckland Art Gallery’s new exhibition Whizz Bang Pop certainly has a little something more to offer. You can see everything from an organic fan and perfectly poured pools of paint, to crystals that are alive and a collection of impossibly balanced glass. You might even hear a sculpture if you time it right.

Covering the period from the 1960s to the present day, Whizz Bang Pop comprises a mix of new acquisitions and some old favourites. Not only are there works by big international names, like Tony Cragg, Ed Ruscha and Pop Art legend Roy Lichenstein, but also some of New Zealand’s finest, including sculptors Len Lye and Bill Culbert.

Sculpture, painting, photographs, videos and prints combine to form a riot of colour and diversity. There are works that will surprise and play tricks on your eyes, and to top it all off there’s the mind-bending, interactive installation of Luc Peire's Environment III, which will undoubtedly have you coming back for more.
