I’d heard from many sources that this place was good so was rather excited to get there. We were shown to our seats and immediately complimentary corn chips and salsa were placed in front of us. This I liked. Naturally I ordered the burrito - but with a side of jalapenos.

The burrito was indeed delicious and typical of what I’ve come to expect from a restaurant serving such items. The tortilla was crispy, the fillings hot and delicious. It’s weird, there doesn’t seem to be nearly as much variance in terms of quality and the like from restaurants.

We sat in the outside (sheltered and warm) with a few other people at lunch; the place was pretty busy for a weekday and hummed nicely. The place is big with 140 seats – in summer for dinner they can get 300 through in a night. I’ve heard that dinner is a great time to go with a big group and to take your time trying different tequilas and they like getting rowdy. I bet that would be mad fun.

Would I eat there again? Yes, probably at dinner with this large group before heading out on the town. Or for a quick tasty lunch if I was in the area.

Note: Established in 1983, your Dad has probably been here. An Auckland icon.
