A tiny restaurant, hidden away on the main street of Kingsland. Number 480. Whilst I see burritos as predominately a takeaway food, I am also open to the idea of sitting down in a lovely setting and engaging in some pleasant conversation with a friend. However in this instance, Hayden joined me.
Due to there only being only about six tables this place is always full. Bookings, as they say, are essential. To find it walk about 15m down the road from the Neighbourhood bar towards the Kingslander and look for a little green door.
At $21.50, this burrito is obviously at the upper end of the burrito echelon. This is perhaps unsurprising, after all – we’re at a f*cking restaurant. Being able to sit down, take your time, soak up the atmosphere, get beer bought to you and the whole feeling that you’re actually going out to dinner rather than just getting takeaways, I feel, more than justifies the price.
The staff appear authentic enough, as does the name of the joint and the rest of the menu. They are also strictly Mexican. Five out of five here guys.
Choice: Chicken or beef when it comes to the filling in your burrito and in terms of hot sauce there is plenty to choose from. In fact, let me talk about this for a minute. One of the things I love about this place is that they have an assortment, literally, an assortment of sauces. Hayden is also a fan of hot so we grabbed one of each variety and began testing them. They saw that we liked hot stuff and, bless, bought out a complimentary serving of jalapenos. This is service at its finest. Bravo El Camino, bravo.
Due to the restaurant being so small the atmosphere is great. Cosy and welcoming, it would be a nice place to be in no matter the time or day.
Would I eat there again? Yes, you know what? I probably would. And I wouldn’t necessarily go for the burrito either. I recommend you come here if you are either:
a) hankering for a burrito and want to take your time
b) want a burrito but need to impress, perhaps you're on a date
c) want a cool atmosphere and great Mexican food
d) are in Kingsland and want good food
